Coal and Mining Industry / Bulk Material Handling:

UHMW is often used for linings in the coal industry because of its outstanding resistance to wear, impact resistance, flexural strength and its water repelling properties. Due to its extremely slippery nature, it helps to prevent caking and sticking of bulk material as well as abrasive wear.

It is also used for lining silos, coke chutes, conveyor troughs and wagons, stripping plates on rotary drum filters, bearing seats, the lining of air separators for coal dust and a myriad of other uses.

Due to its excellent sound insulating properties, UHMW polyethylene is used in rollers for conveyor belts and steel jointed band conveyors.

It is also extremely useful in underground mining operations when an antistatic finish is required in order to comply with applicable Mine Security Regulations.
